Ze Hai Zhen Ren

Ze Hai Zhen Ren [Cek Hay Cen Ren] being veneration in several Temple in Java, Indonesia. Beside in Cek Hay Cen Ren Temple at Jalan Gurami Tegal, his statue also presents in Cin Tek Yen Temple at Jakarta, Pekalongan (Pao An Thien Temple), Indramayu, and Semarang.
Specially in Semarang, Cek Hay Cen Ren being known as Guo Liuk Kwan [Kwee Lak Kwa], being veneration in Temple of Guo (Kwee) Family at Jalan Sebandaran (Cek Hay Miaw Temple, Temple of Ocean Relieve).
Guo Liuk Kwan looks as a high royal officer, his cassock like cassock at Han Dynasty. His 2 sidekicks guard him. One of them from Java ethnic, known from his cassock.
Story said that Guo Liuk Kwan is a China Trade Ambassador who came to Indonesia for doing economical activity. Because of that, he always travels from city to city in north Java shore, helped by his 2 sidekicks.
One day, in his sailing around Tegal, he meets pirates whom willing to enter his ship. In peaceful face, Guo ask to the pirates to take a bath first and get dressed. After take a bath and get dressed, he abandoned his ship with his sidekicks. Suddenly a great typhoon came, hit all pirates and wave take everything to the bottom of sea. Since that, Guo and his sidekicks disappear.
But people from different place said that they meet Guo in simultaneous times. Because that reason, people start believing that Guo is a talented person. Frankly, Guo is a Taoist who already got a high level of Tao.
Historians said that Guo Liuk Kwan might be one of the key people in rebel against VOC (Dutch) at 1741-1742, known as "China War". Chinese troops defeated by VOC, and retreat to Tegal. But VOC strike again, and most of them scattered. In that condition, Guo Liuk Kwan was missing.
Other story said that Guo Liuk Kwan even stay in Tegal, he helped people to develop that area. Teaching them how to do a good farming method and be a good fisher. In his sunset day, because remembered his past, he wanted to sail again. In one day, in quite he got to sail and never come back.
Because his great effort to the society, people take him as a person who already have his Tao and got Cen Ren (immortal status), then Cen Ren Miaw built in Tegal for remember him.
In 1837, second Chinese month, all frames rebuild by Captain Tan Kun Hway and since then, the temple named Cek Hay Kung. One Cek Hay Cen Ren Temple also built in Banjar - Indonesia by Tan Se Guan, son of Tan Kun Hway. Beside to remember Guo's leaving, every year they make a ceremony to accompany Cek Hay Cen Ren to the shore where he went. That ceremony made in a shore to set Cek Hay Cen Ren statue facing ocean.
