Home > Rivulets > Being United In Tao Author: Hendra Being United Is a word that has meaning if it is want to be learned, discussed and spoken shortly, easily and simply, then it will be short, simple and without deep meaning. But, if it is tried to be understood widely and deeply, thus the problem and the language must have more meaning and touch the soul. In learning Tao, we might often hearing or speaking about "being united" and make something to be one, in terms of being abstract, such as thought, words, and action, "the real me", chi, concentration, even at the deep level of discussion until being united with the nature, etc. I think those go more to each individual as well as God. As a matter of Fact, all the people who learn or do not learn Tao, go in "that hole", which is worldly material problem, the social life that has already existed. But which one harder id depends on each individual. However, at the final it can be said that all of the individual could possibly have the same problem, because in my point of view, if we want to learn Tao to reach enlightenment, the absolute measurement is that as a human we have to try to be the whole human and as perfect as HIM in the united view from the human its self, nature and environment as well as the Creator. That is why at the final, being the perfect human is a very wide thing because Tao its self is unlimited. The purpose of the discussion about the being united that is to point in this time, is to focus on the social problem, the importance among people generally, and specifically among the Taoist in term a positive thought for the need and the good of all. Why should be a United? We see everywhere that the integration and the disintegration always keep existing, bring the domino effect in its scale. Although the integration is not absolute, but until now it has been proven to have more positive function rather than disintegration if we see from the limit and clear measurements. The writers often asked and confused why the developed countries in Europe culturally, economically and technologically still want to integrate in a bigger united form, which later on will be called European Union. After learning a while, integrating our selves in a bigger union make them can obtain a lot of function and strength to our own country to reach the aspiration of higher human life, also includes one of the anticipation in facing the competition of globalization. In the other side of world, we also can see the process of disintegration that happens such as Soviet Union (USSR) that is being spread out into small countries, and they do not have power and ability like the past. From those two illustrations (in the scale and world) that is against to each other, I am now trying to provide a reason by giving the available information to proof that the integration matter is the important and has good effects to the community and the individual itself, which the effects definitely can widely spread out and impact directly to the social life. Then, does someone who is learning Tao will feel good enough to be a Taoist without concerning the environment and other people? Isn't learning Tao is a private matter? If learning Tao requires "Wu", then what is the integration for, besides we have a principal to follow "Ziran" / "Ceran" (   ) / natural?How is the readers' opinion? As my point of view in the status as Taoist who learns Tao, "being united" is very important mainly for the people who learn Tao seriously and want to reach the positive development. That is why it is natural if all of us participate to establish the strong integration, in the Tao environment or generally in the world environment (of course it is expected, and not only assumed as a slogan). How to be a United? A group of people in the large number can integrate if only there are strong factors to lead them to the integration, so do us, when we discuss something about integration in Tao. Generally, the factor that can be motivation or basic factor from the people to be a union is the similarity. Normally, at the highest level, the form is more abstract, that is the aspiration or known as "vision". At the more real level, the factor of being united can be in the forms of the similarity of the objectives, needs, desires, feeling and destiny, etc. Of course being able to be a united (mainly in the large number) in a vision is not easy. Every individual, who has their own goals, needs, desires as well as feelings, or even involves their private life, should be able to realize, understand and accept all the existed conditions and give the high scale of priority and commitment in their visions, needs and the purpose to others (in case of being a part of a group of people). As for a Taoist, if Tao is his objective, go to reach Tao is his need, Tao as his high vision, learning Tao as his affinity (or it can be said as destiny), also in the feeling of the existence of Tao in his soul, thus logically and naturally we can automatically be a united strongly (in Tao). Is the fact always like that? Why? May be because Tao is too supreme, big, wide and deep. Shortly, the writer had ever tried to discuss about the problem of "how can be united in Tao" with the other partners, and he got the general answer, that is "Difficult, because it depends on the individual its self, while people individually will be different." To be honest, that kind of opinion is not as simple as ABC, and it might not be accepted because not all of the things can always be returned to the individual itself, therefore everything will never have something to be the principal and the role. This might caused by the wrongful or the narrow thought about Tao that is being learned now. So, we often "forget" everything that we want to reach always require efforts or "sacrifice". It should be admitted as the right thing, kinds of problems to become a union are not easy to be formulated by word mouth to mouth only. The ideal thing is if we can discuss through heart to heart, because there are no more "closing down" in our selves, but would that be able to be done in the large scale of human? After keep thinking of this problem, finally the writer only get a conclusion that is very simple, where the key of the problem is only situated in each individual, that is the available or unavailable "the spirit of being united" in our souls. Even here, the spirit of being united is hard to be explained in detail and completely, because it is massive. Shortly, the writer can only give a view that the spirit of being united, which is meant here, should be held and widely thought positively in following Tao consistently. Establishing the Spirit of being united If the Spirit of being united is the basic to be a union, then now we only need to establish and expand this spirit of being united in our souls individually. Of course with the "double or even more" power from the synergy, it can push and bring the integration easier and reach the objectives and the purpose quicker, where at the final, will bring the positive impact and direct function to the individual its self. |
